If you want to try light programs around Gileboom homestay and save your energy for the rest of your trip, we would suggest you Observing Fishing Activities or Damkesh spring sightseeing programs. All of these programs are one-day excursions which you may walk to the Caspian Seaلینک کنم or take a taxi to drive you there. It is possible for Gileboom guests to join the fishing parties and experience it.

There are some other excursion programs such as Visit to Tea factory; a kind of Industrial tourism to get familiar with the process of making Green and Black tea, the differences between organic and non-organic tea, and the harvest time of tea plants.

Another exciting program is Javaher-Dasht Safari; a safari with 4WD Jeeps to the middle of Hyrcanian mixed forests لینک بشه to reach a high-altitude plain, called as Jordasht or Javaher-Dasht (1900 m).

Hiking Alborz mountains

Hiking Alborz mountains is in the wish list of most travelers coming to Gileboom homestay. 

Gileboom offers a wide range of hiking activities in Ghasem-Abad village and other villages around; all of these hiking programs is done in Caspian Hyrcanian Jungles and Alborz mountains to explore villages in altitude, Hyrcanian trees and have a great view over plain areas including rice fields and tea farms.

The Alborz range skirts the south of the Caspian Sea, almost 900 km long, stretching from the Azerbaijan province in NW all around to the Khorasan province in the NE, forming a natural barrier between the dry and hot plains to the south and the green Alpine forests of the North. Its width ranging from 60 to 160 km, the range is divided into Eastern, Central and Western Alborz. Guilan province is located on the West part of Alborz Range.

Gileboom programs for hiking Alborz mountains vary from half-day to one- day hikes. The highest altitude of hiking programs do not exceed than 830 m and the difficulty level is from Moderate to Difficult.

The word “hiking” here means a long, vigorous walk, on trails or off trail, for recreational purposes; as it is  preferred term in Canada, the United States, and the UK.  The term bushwalking is endemic to Australia, having been adopted by the Sydney Bush Walkers club in 1927. In New Zealand a long, vigorous walk or hike is called tramping.

Peaks have always been regarded as glorious and majestic landmarks by ancient Iranians. Nowadays many adventures groups arrange climbing notable peaks in Alborz and Zagros mountain range each year.

The magnificent Alborz Mountains contain about 70 peaks over 4000m. The highest one is Mt Damavand (5671m), Alam Kuh (4850m) and Mt Sabalan (4811m) are the second and the third one.

The Highest peak in Guilan province is Somamous (3700 m) which is located in Somamous mountain. It is the highest peak near the Caspian Sea لینک بشه به مقاله.

If you want to have a great view over the Sea and Caspian hyrcanian mixed forests لینک بشه به مقاله then Somamous peak climbing is the best choice for you.

Climbing Gishar-kuh peak (1350m) is desirable for those adventurous trekkers who like to pass the entire trail in Hyrcanian mixed forests and from the saddle to the top have the vast view of great Alborz mountain range and the peaks around in south and great view over the Caspian Sea in the north direction.

In Gileboom homestay we host many adventurous trekkers who would like to do these climbing beside they are so interested in flora and fauna of the environment.

Reaching Gileboom and staying in its cozy rooms seems that you are just going to stay here and relax, drink tea, and read books at first; but the pretty landscape of around the lodge, breathing fresh air, and great activity maps will not let you just loll here, walking in rural lanes and strolling in the hinterland is the first enjoyable activity to do here. 

Walking to the Caspian Seaلینک بشه به مقاله, the world’s largest lake, and enjoy sandy beach which is a great place for swimming and sailing while enjoying a beautiful view of jungle and the snowy Somamous peak. From early fall till spring you can also watch teams of fishermen catching fishes there.

You may also pick the walking maps and Moving towards Eisal-Kool, the rice fields and reach the Sal (water reservoir for rice planting), tea and kiwifruit farms as well, and a plant nursery where hectares of ornamental plants are grown neatly by the owner and rural men and women working there.

Mish-Sere Dasht is another option, which means ‘sheep pasture’ in Gilaki dialect. The plain is full of Kunos trees (gilak term for wild medlar trees) so you can eat the fruits in late fall and winter.
